Seemingly too ambitious...

" I could not even believe that all along I was too ambitious and that it's all I got that brought me to wherever I am now!" claimed Dr. Jerome Barera. Yes you read it right, he is a medical doctor. He was also once a tutor and a laundry boy turned student achiever. Dr.Barera is the son of a tricycle (local tuktuk) driver and a laundry woman. He is the eldest among 3 siblings. The meager income through hard labor by his parents was barely enough to let the ends meet. But through it all, he was able to go and finish his elementary till college in private schools and university. All thanks to the scholarships granted to him. He was the valedictorian for both elementary and high school batch. Graduating from college he also had garnered the award as cum laude. He then proceeded to wanting a degree in medicine so he went to study in the Western Visayas University College of Medicine, again a scholar. All through out his academic formation, Dr. Barera faced the daily difficulties of providing for his ver y basic needs. There were times that he attends classes on an empty stomach and satisfies only his hunger after doing paid laundry. Fast forward to the day when Dr. Barera can finally and legally appendage the infamous two letters M D in his name. It was for him all worth the effort. It was the light at the end of the tunnel. His momment of glory! Indeed the ends justifies the means...and the rest is now history. Dr. Jerome Barera is now a resident physician in the Internal Medicine Department of the Zamboanga City Medical Center...No more tutoring...No more paid laundry...No more empty stomach...He is looking his best with a smock on and a stethoscope over his shoulder. Now who can say what one can or can not become?

If it's meant for you POY...it will really be yours.

Kate Palma, POY as she is fondly called is the HONORARY SCHOLAR of the Pinoy Dream Academy II. She was officially granted the status last Sunday, July 27, 2008. She has to win the top scholar spot for 3 times so that she can have the chance to become a regular scholar. Every time she gets to be on top, she gets to accept a pay of fifty grand. All in all she can bring home one hundred fifty grand as her prize if she decides to forgo with the opportunity to become a regular scholar. POY for the imformation of everybody, is one of the 4 PDA scholar wannabes who didn't make it because of several requirements that these candidates didn't meet for them to get into the show. I am quite a fan of POY from the very moment that she was seen on TV. I know POY personally. We were in a group when she was still in the same university that I graduated from. Our group is a singing group tasked to sing in events and ceromonies of the university. I know of the singing prowess this lad has. She's more than meets the eye. She never fails to impress people when she sings. The final casting episode of the PDA was a bit saddening for us, her friends because she was not in the list chosen by the jurors. I personally was dismayed by how the jurors came to a decision which does not include POY as one of the regular scholars. As Direk Joey says it, the packaging and selling of POY's persona would pose a problem. But the show was not at all a competition based on appearance and character, it's a singing contest for crying out loud. Going through the scholars that these jurors have chosen, I have observed that none of them is at par with what POY has to offer. Some of them (scholars) may be good but a few have probems of thier own making. There were also a couple who early on have decided to back out from the contest while the show was already being aired a few weeks already! I said to myself, what a waste these people have made of the resources invested on them. It is already the big break they all have been wanting. POY was one of the many who would want to be a PDA scholar and she would definitely be willing to give anything up for it. Now that she already is in the PDA as a competitor, all that I can do is hope and wish the best for her. I know that she have all that is needed to win. I hope that the jurors and mentors will stick to the notion that the PDA is a singing competition not otherwise. I am a proud fan of POY...

A keepsake you call MEMORIES...

Just a few minutes ago, I was able to exchange conversations with my high school friend. She is now at a distant place. Our conversations were not at all intellectual but it made me realize many facts about life. As we continue on with our chatting, I have realized that no matter how evolving and changing our lives have become, the memories that we have of our friendship remain constant. It became the only common ground that both of us can relate to. I have not seen her for quite some time now and she also has not seen me either. You see, she's a thousand miles away from where I am now. We only communicate on the net (chat). I dont even get to see her on cam neither does she sees me but once She and I started our chat, it's as if we are just talking on a conventional way. I can even picture out her expressions to the point that at times I end up laughing my heart out. It amazes me how, despite of the times that we don't hang out and have fun in the same manner as we did before, we still can level off our respective points, views, oppinions and even taunts! I guess our friendship transcend beyond time and is very much rooted on to our fun keepsake called memories...

Getting Started!

I just heard of this stuff- blogging from a friend and how many a much it can provide opportunities for a person who has his time on the net. I have read some of the articles made by some of the bloggers I know. It's quite the "in" thing now. I guess people can speak out their minds via this media. No one can hold anybody from expressing oneself. There's still a lot that i must know about this thing but Im taking my baby steps...anybody want to help me?
